Can You Imagine the Mercedes X-Class as a Camper?

The new Mercedes X-Class will also take a part in the world’s largest public exhibition for tourism and leisure at the Caravan, Motor, Tourism (CMT) Show from January 13-21, 2018. The Mercedes X-Class looks like it’s compatible in tourist and leisure niche.

Tischer offers a demountable cabin for the Mercedes X-Class. In that cabin you could have comfortable sleeping system in an alcove 150 cm (59.06 in); almost 2 meters (6.56 ft) headroom; a kitchen with a 3-burner gas stove and three seats which are able to turn into a second bed. For your new X-Class camper, Tischer offers also fold-away wash basin and swiveling toilet unit; the integrated bathroom which should offer enough space to take a shower.




VanEssa also has own view of how to use the Mercedes X-Class. They offer a heavy-duty pull-out module which is approximately 250 kg (551 lbs) but it’s fully equipped kitchen. It’s features are cool box, cooking and washing-up facilities including space for crockery and supplies. There is also a second pull-out module which offers more space for additional items. VanEssa protects the equipment with a cover made out of yacht-deck-look teak wood, a water-resistant material which is characterized by its strength and durability. The cover could be propped up at 45 degree using special pneumatic struts. VanEssa gives an advance for fitting of a roof tent with rear-facing entrance which is useful for trips over several days.

The Mercedes X-Class has some advantages in the camper business. It looks like a robust and strong pick-up. The main plus of the X-Class is its off-road capability with which gives more freedom for those of us which prefers to go in wild nature. The Mercedes X-Class has fording depth of up to 600 mm (23.62 in); the ground clearance is as much as 222 mm (8.74); the X-Class has 100% the ability to climb slopes (called gradeability); the Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) system gives the ability of the X-Class to cope with the most challenging of trails. The towing capacity is up to 3.5 t. So, there are wide variety of trailers and caravans which you could attach to the X-Class.

The Mercedes X-Class has wide track, coil springs at the front and rear, long wheel-base and spring and damping system. The X-Class has two 4-cylnder engines with an output of 161 hp (120 kW) and 188 hp (140 kW). Both engine versions are available with either rear-wheel drive or with the engageable 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The high-torque V6 diesel engine with all-wheel drive as standard will be available from mid-2018. This engine has to give more agility to the Mercedes X-Class.
