Mercedes Vans Sales Review of 2017
Mercedes-Benz
Vans reach up 401,000 sales in all regions during the 2017. The initial
December results for sales show an increase about 12%. The all models set sales
records, including the Sprinter which new model coming soon. For the first time
Mercedes sold over 400,000 units. Thus the company marks growth for five
consecutive years. Another significant point to the good sales of Mercedes is
that the both Mercedes Vito van and the Mercedes V-Class were launched in the
world’s biggest vehicle market in China, last year.

Mercedes-Benz
Vans marks around 9% sales increase in the EU30 region. In 2017, about 273,300
vans were sold in comparison with the 2016 when the sales were 249,900 units.
On the home market, Germany, Mercedes set 10% sales increase to around 105,800
units (2016: 96,100 units). These sales results are record for both EU30 region
and Germany market.

Vans also marks growth on the NAFTA region where 44,800 units were sold in
2017. Comparing the result from the past 2017 with the total sales of 43,400 vehicles in 2016, the company marks 3%
growth. The new sales record was set in the United States with 34,200 sales for
the last year. For the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Vans sales were 33,700 so, for the
2017 the company marks 1% up. The three-point star has also a very good year on
the Latin America market with significant growth of 31%. It makes about 16,400
units for 2017 over 12,500 in 2016. Due to the launch of the Vito and V-Class
models on the Chinese market in 2016, the company marks around 75% increase to
23,800 vehicles over 13,600 units for 2016.

The
Mercedes Sprinter is best-seller model for Mercedes-Benz Vans. The Sprinter has
200,500 sales worldwide. It increases the sales for 2017 with 4% versus 2016
with 193,400 units sold. This significant sales record is made over the
Sprinter’s last full year of the model cycle. So, we have to be prepared for
the new Sprinter. The current model has been on the market for 12 years now.
From 1995, Mercedes Sprinter made over 3.4 million sales in more than 130
countries. It’s time for a new Sprinter.

The
Mercedes Vito and V-Class models in the midsize segment made sales of around
171,100 units for 2017. It’s significant increase of 22% versus 2016 with
140,800 sales. Thus the midsize segment became the second major area of
business for Mercedes-Benz Vans. The sales of Mercedes Vito made an increase by
approximately 21% to about 111,800 units for 2017 and set a new sales record
for the full year versus 2016 with 92,100 units sold. The Mercedes V-Class had
make around 59,300 sales which is about 22% up in comparison with the sales of
2016 with 48,700 units sold. Both Mercedes Vito and Mercedes V-Class had first
full year in China in 2017.

Some
highlights which give green line to the sales of the Mercedes-Benz Vans become
from the Marco Polo family. The Marco Polo
was launched with right-hand drive in the United Kingdom in May 2017. The other
version Marco Polo ACTIVITY was launched in
Australia in June 2017. Thus the Marco Polo model of the current product
range became for the first time available overseas. In 2018, the Mercedes will
launch the right-hand drive version of Marco Polo HORIZON in UK and Japan
markets as well as in Thailand.

The
smallest van Mercedes Citan also made a new record of 26,100 sales in 2017
compared to the 2016 with 24,900 which is an increase of about 5%.

The
Mercedes X-Class hit the European markets in November 2017 and made about 3,300
sales. Mercedes-Benz Vans is going to launch the X-Class in South Africa and Australia
in early 2018. After that the Mercedes X-Class will be launched in Argentina
and Brazil in 2019. The Mercedes-Benz Vans makes suggestion about the
midsize-pickup segment for 43% growth in the next 8 years. It’s according to
the actual about 2.2 million midsize-pickups per year to 3.2 million by the
year 2026.
