The 11th National Meeting of Ford Club Bulgaria
The 11th National
Meeting of Ford Club Bulgaria was held in Pleven at the “Pleven” carting track
in Kaylаka area. ‘Carting track’ is an exaggerated definition of this track. I believe that in the
past it used to be a good track but now it is abandoned. People say that there are
carts kept somewhere but they are not used unless someone orders them in
advance.
However, the organizers
announced a few show programs in an official message: Italian Pursuit, Masterly
Driving, Eco Drag (team of three people push the car at a distance of 20m) and a Ford line, which means participants should drive in a line in Pleven. In Bulgaria
we have a proverb saying: “Riding a horse through the center of the village”. Usually this
means to show off. Now it meant: “We are a Ford community and we are here”.

I have to make a point that
there were really beautiful Ford models as you can see on the pictures. The red Ford Focus sedan made the greatest impression on me. Even its emblem was red
on black background. I got disappointed when I realized that its engine was diesel. I hoped that Focus had at least 2.0 petrol
engine and was
hyper luxurious
inside – maybe inside it was actually luxurious. I don’t know. Another distinguished
model was a red Mondeo estate. I think that the track was a little bit small
for this model but the enthusiast’s spirit is invincible.

Somehow during the Italian
pursuit the electricity was switched on and we could listen to some rock music.
At About 12 p.m. the ‘DJ’ announced that we had an hour for a rest. The organizers had to prepare the track for
masterly driving. During the break everybody could test the
three brand new models of Ford: Fiesta, Focus and Kuga on the track.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t
watch the whole show but I was informed that masterly driving included slalom,
parking on
revers, parallel parking and so on on the track. I hope that next time I can
make a video of the whole program.
Pleven is a nice town. You have to visit it- maybe next year during the next
national Ford meeting. That’s all for this week. I’ll see you around next Sunday.
Bye.
