The 8th National Meeting of “Peugeot” Club Bulgaria was in Haskovo (BG) (Gallery)

The 8th National Meeting of “Peugeot Club”- Bulgaria was on 15th June 2013 in Haskovo. The event coincided with the 10th anniversary of the club.
The organizers had thought of different show programs for the audience: Drag, Masterly Driving Car, Time Attack, Italian Pursuit, Slalom, The Car of Audience and Car Rodeo.
When I arrived the Drag race had already started. The length of the “track” was 400 m (1/4 mile) and the traffic in the city was limited only to one side of the “Saedinenie” bld. in Haskovo. (The results of the race are shown at the end of the post.)
At about 10:45 a.m. the Drag race finished and everybody went to the cart track in Haskovo. The other races of the program were held there.
The next race was Masterly Driving. There were a lot of participants competing with different models of Peugeot from 106 to 807. Here the participants had to drive slalom forward, then entrance into a square area, make a U-turn and go out. After that there was a “tunnel” on reverse drive and they had to park, as well as slalom between two turns.  The cone in the middle of the track hinted that the racers had to make 360° rotation and then park forward on a special place. The last thing they have to do was parallel parking and… it was all.
The time was about 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. when the next event – time attack started. The length of the track was 880 m (app. 0.547 miles) and the regulations were as follows: a formation lap, a session of time attack and a lap to get out of the track. All participants were ranked by the time they had shown during the race and were divided into relevant classes. The first eight participants of each class went to the final.
On the final the time attack racers had to drive Italian Pursuit with direct eliminations. In the quarter-final the couples were chosen on the base of the best time. The racers had to compete as follows:
A/  1st vs. 8th
B/ 2nd vs.  7th
C/ 3th vs. 6th
D/ 4th vs. 5th

The winners from A vs. C and B vs. D participated in the semi-final. Those who had shown the best time were the competitors for the 1st place. (You can see the results at the end of the post.)

While the different races were held, next to the track there was an exhibition of the new made of Peugeot: Peugeot 301, Peugeot 2008 and Peugeot 208 GTi. Everybody had the opportunity to test drive and get personal impression.

There was enough time so the organizers came up with the idea of another race - slalom. The racers had to drive slalom between cones, turn, drive again between cones and finish. The winner was Angel Pepelanov (122) with Peugeot 205 a racer who could be distinguished among the others because he started and finished the slalom on reverse only for the show.  At the end of 8th National Meeting of “Peugeot Club” – Bulgaria and just before the beginning of the dinner party on this occasion and 10th anniversary of the club something very interesting happened. Everybody, who was willing to take part in a car rodeo, organized by a local car morgue, had such a chance. The participants had a choice of “socialist” vehicles: VAZ 1300 and Moskvich Aleko (2141). There were also other makes Opel (Vauxhall for UK) Vectra, Opel  Kadett, Ford Escort – estate, Ford Escort – hatchback, Ford Fiesta, Ford Sierra, Ford Mondeo – estate, Citroën AX, Peugeot 306 – which couldn’t  start and a Toyota Carina. I think that I have to stop writing and offer you to watch a video for more details of the event. Have a nice time watching it.
