2014 V1 Challenge Bulgaria: The Champion is Iskren Marinov! The End!
November
9, 2014. There was a
wonderful view to the Vitosha mountаin.
The weather was partly cloudy. The clouds ran each other and when they gave a
break the sun shined the race track at the parking of IKEA shop in Sofia,
Bulgaria.
This race track was
different in comparison with the other tracks in previous five races of V1 Challenges Bulgaria.
From my view point it was a little bit narrow. This opinion became true when
some of the challengers couldn’t find the right point to stop. Then they started
to “rearrange” the track during the training session. There was a lot work for
the marshals.
However, ten challengers
took part in V1 Challenge Bulgaria at the final race and they were: Iskren
Marinov, Kostadin Shterev, Diana Stoyanova, Ivaylo Tsonev, Billuri Hasbey,
Taksintunch Tin (Turkey), Gyulhyusein Abdullayev (Azerbaijan), Daniel Popov,
Dilyan Popov and Grigor Grigorov. For the last three racers it was the very
first V1 Challenge race.
The
Rules
The race starts with a
free training session. The next is the qualification session. After that the
two challengers, who recorded slowest lap time on the qualification, were raced
first. The winner of this race goes into the next group on the third position.
He race with the challengers who recorded fastest lap time during the
qualification. There are only three racers on the final race and they are fight
for the first place.
During
the training session Iskren Marinov had a problem with his Volkicar. Marinov
had been under pressure for minutes because he had not known what will happen
with the car. Subsequently, the mechanics found that the problem was with the
gearbox and they fixed it. In the same time Kostadin Shterev had enough time
and space in front of himself to learn the track. Marinov car was ready for the
qualification session and he had hard work, to learn the track and to record
the best possible time.
First race was between
Dilyan Popov and Gyulhyusein Abdullayev (Azerbaijan). Abdullayev had a flat
tire and he was out from the race. Dilyan Popov continued in the race on the
third position with Taksintunch Tin (Turkey) and Billuri Hasbey (Turkey).
Taksintunch Tin also had a flat tire and was out from V1 Challenges Bulgaria.
Billuri
Hasbey continued in the next race in company of Kostadin Shterev and Diana
Stoyanova. Here the winner was Kostadin Shterev and he won the opportunity to
race with Iskren Marinov and Daniel Popov. After another eight laps Popov was
third, Shterev second and Iskren Marinov moved into the best group, for the
battle of Sofia first place. Him opponents were Ivaylo Tsonev and Grigor
Grigorov.
Here
is the surprise; Grigor Grigorov, who took a part for the very first time,
recorded the fastest lap time (28.094 sec) and he won the DHL trophy. He drove
very well during the race and he finished on the first place. Ivaylo Tsonev
crossed the final line second and Iskren Marinov – arrived on the third place.
Kostadin Shterev and Iskren Marinov had equal points
after the last race in Stara Zagora. Even that Iskren Marinov finished on the
third position he is the winner of V1 Challenge Bulgaria. The points which he
received in Sofia are enough to grab the Champion title for 2014 V1 Challenge
Bulgaria. Kostadin Shterev is second and Diana Stoyanova is on third position
in the final classification.
