Groupe Renault Sold 3.76M Vehicles and Set a New Sales Record in 2017

In 2017 Groupe Renault sold 3,761,634 vehicles and marked 8.5% rise in global registrations (passenger cars + LCVs). Groupe Renault has increased sales for 5th consecutive year and the market share now stand at 4% which is 0.2% more versus 2016. 

In the LCV segment Group Renault also set a new sales record with 462,859 registrations which is 4.1% growth in comparison with 2016.

Renault has made 2,670,982 vehicles sold and Dacia has made 655,235 units sold. Lada’s sales rose by 17.8% to 335,564 registrations in 2017. In the same time, Renault Samsung Motors sales are decreased by 10.1% to 99,846 vehicles.




Gorupe Renault sold 1,911,169 vehicles and marked that the registrations are increased by 5.6% in Europe last year. The company claims that the market was grew by 3.3% and their share of the European market is 10.8% which is up 0.2% for 2017.

The registrations of the Renault ZOE, electric model, rose 44% as the sales volume increased 38% in 2017. Renault claims that it has 23.8% market share.

Dacia, as part of Groupe Renault, also made a new European sales record with 463,712 registrations which is 11.7% increase and 2.6% market share.

Groupe Renault set growth by 16.9% including Lada models in Russia in 2017.  For the first time the Russian market expand with 12.2%. Lada raised its sales to 17% and marked an increase of 0.8% market share to 19.5% in 2017. Renault increased the market share by 0.3% to 8.5% as the Renault Captur made 30,958 sales and the Duster 43,715. Russia is the second-biggest market of Groupe Renault with the consolidation of Lada sales volumes.




Groupe Renault also set a new record in Turkey. There the company sales rose by 7% as it sold 130,276 vehicles in 2017. The carmaker claims that the Turkish market fell by 2.8% last year. Renault says that company’s market share was grown by 1.3% to 13.6% for last year. The Renault Megane Sedan made 39,900 sales.

The market share of Groupe Renault, including Lada, increased with 1.4% to 24.5% in Eurasia. The total registrations rose 13.6% and the carmaker saw that the market grew by 7%.

Groupe Renault also increased the registration by 17% in the Asia Pacific region and said that the market was expanded with 2.7% in 2017. Renault had double the sales in China. In 2017, Renault sold over 72,100 vehicles in comparison with 35,278 for 2016. The new Renault Koleos made over 43,400 registrations.

Renault Samsung Motors saw sales decrease of 10.1%. The carmaker claims that the decrease comes after the strong 2016 because in 2017 there weren’t launched new models. The SM6 and the QM6 were the last two models which were launched in 2016.

Groupe Renault increased its sales by 49.3% in Iran in 2017. The good sales were helped by the Renault Tondar and the Renault Sandero. In India, the sales of Renault had 14.9% down. The carmaker claims that the decrease coming due to the upcoming new model Renault Captur. Last year in North Africa market, Groupe Renault marked an increase of 5.6%.




Groupe Renault had also growth the sales in the Americas region in 2017. The increase is 9.9%. In Brazilian market Renault’s sales rose 11.4% helped by the new models Renault Captur and the Renault Kwid. The Kwid was launched in July 2017 and had made almost 22,600 sales. Renault’s set 16.3% sales increase in Argentina where the Renault Kwid is going to be launched.
