What is the EMB? and What is the BIG DEAL?
There
are a lot of vehicles for on road and off-road. They use different type of fuel
or energy. Last weekend I drove something different. The EMB. The EMB had a
stand during the 2018 Electro Mobility Expo which was held in Sofia (Bulgaria), September
13-16.

The
EMB stands for E-Mountain Bike and there are several models: Basic, CityPro,
Explorer, Fury and the opportunity to build your dream bike. I drove the EMB
CityPro and EMB Fury.
The
Red one EMB is called CityPro. It has 3000 W electric motor, 115 Nm (84.82
lb.ft.) of torque, the battery is 52V and its capacity is 17 Ah. The EMB
CityPro has DNM RC-32 160mm fork and DNM RCP-2 190mm shock; the brakes are
BRM-359 203 mm.
EMB Explorer has 4800W; 140 Nm (103 lb. ft) of torque; 60V battery with 23 Ah capacity. |
I ride this red EMB CityPro bike first. When I was on the bike, I tried to go with the pedals but it was a bit difficult so I have to start with the electric motor. I pushed a button and the EMB CityPro bike went nice and easy. While you drove straight it’s ok. There isn’t what to happen. When I have to make a turn it was bit difficult. First, I usually balance the bike with the pedals while turning. In this case I couldn’t because it’s difficult to turn the pedals. Second, the steering radius is a bit limited. So, it’s like you truing 18-wheeler. The bike has too big radius of turning and it was bit scary to turn. When you didn’t used to the bike there is an opportunity to fell on the ground if you are using the electric motor in turning.

THE
BIG DEAL
The
EMB Fury is an electric mountain bike with 8000W electric motor with 178 Nm of
torque. It has more torque than the Ford
Fiesta 1.1 L or 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engines with power form 70 hp to 125 hp.
The torque of these engines is in range from 110 to 170 Nm (81.13 to 125.39 lb-ft).
When you have an electric drive you receive the maximum torque at 0 rpm.
