Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD
|
The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD is built at the Flint
Assembly plant, Flint, Michigan. The new Silverado HD is longer, wider and
taller than its predecessor. The wheelbase has been stretched with 5.2 in (132
mm) on Crew Cab models and it's scaled for HD customers. The equipment levels
for the Silverado HD are Work Truck (WT), Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country. There
are 22 cab, bed, chassis, and driveline configurations.
Two new engines that are now available for the all-new
2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD - the 6.6L V8 gasoline unit and the 6.6L Duramax
Turbo-Diesel V8 engine.
The 6.6L V8 gasoline engine produces 401 hp and 464
lb.ft (629 Nm). It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The overview of
this engine is that it has an 11% power increase; a 22% torque increase and an 18%
more towing capacity.
This new 6.6 gasoline engine comes with a direct
injection system. It's built on cast-iron Small Block and it has aluminum
heads. Thus the engine delivers more precise fuel control which enables a
higher compression ratio of 10.8:1, which allows more power to be produced. The
good thing is that the power is available and even on low rpm which helps when
pulling away with a loaded cargo box or a trailer. The engine has and a forged
steel crankshaft, a forged powder-metal connecting rods, and additional
high-strength components to provide more durability to the new Silverado HD.

Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel
|
The 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine produces 445 hp
and 910 lb.ft (1234 Nm) of torque. This engine comes with an all-new Allison®
10-speed automatic transmission. If you would like to achieve the towing
capacity of the 35,500 pounds (16,103 kg), you need to bet on this engine with
Regular Cab, 2WD, Dual-Rear-Wheel (DRW).
Chevrolet once again bet on the Allison® gearbox. The
all-new 10-speed automatic transmission comes with improved driveline
components and provides a better-transferring torque to the wheels. It allows
more torque to be used at lower gears and thus the overall driving dynamics are
enhanced. When trailering this gearbox has to provide you smoother gear changes
and short steps between them. The transmission supports smart engine braking
which lowers braking effort to the wheels.
If your job required powering of another equipment, now
the new Silverado HD offers a factory-integrated engine-driven Power Take-Off
(PTO). This option is exclusively available with the Allision® 10-speed
transmission for selected diesel models. The PTO drive gear works by a chain to
direct engine power. Moreover, the PTO could be used while the vehicle is
idling because the PTO is engine-driven rather than a turbine-driven engine.
The new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado also offers and 4WD.
Having such a truck it comes with Autotrac Active Two-Speed Transfer Case,
which automatically controls the "4 Auto" mode. This feature makes
the Silverado HD seamlessly switching between 2WD and 4WD depending on the road
conditions.
With the new 2020 Silverado HD comes and optionally
available the Advanced Trailering System technologies and new transparent
trailer view.
