To celebrate its 55th
anniversary, AMG launches a limited series of exactly 5 units of the
Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55. These 5 special units GT3 Edition 55 will be hand-made
at the race car manufactory at Affalterbach. The special Mercedes-AMG GT3
Edition 55 comes with a special 1 OF 5 box with an exclusive IWC Pilot's Watch
Chronograph Edition "AMG" with the chassis inscription on it.

What's Before The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55?
Looking back on the history of
automotive companies is always a pleasure and thrilling thing to do. The
leitmotif of Hans Werner Aufrecht, founder of AMG are the words "Motorsport
is what drives us." and somehow these words have been living with the AMG
for more than 55 years now. Starting with the sensational class win of the
Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG in the 24 Hours of Spa in 1971 up to this year's
1-2 win by Mercedes-AMG GT3 of the same race.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 - Engine
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55
has an optimized 6.3l V8 engine that produces 630 hp. These are 100 hp more
compared to the racing version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 because the AMG GT3
Edition 55 isn't homologated by the FIA rules so more power is available. If a
customer would like his/her Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 to be homologated according
to the FIA rules - it's possible upon request.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55
exhaust system is made of Inconel®* and it doesn't have silencers. Thus the AMG
GT3 Edition 55 will have a rich and deeper sound.
*Note: Inconel® is a registered
trademark of Special Metals Corporation. Inconel® alloys are
oxidation-corrosion-resistant materials used in extreme environments subject to
pressure and heat.
Additional to the limited series
of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 is the special chassis number – “GT3.190-55”.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 - Exterior
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55
has a special color called MANUFACTUR Alpine Grey Uni. This exclusive finish is
nicely underlined with red accents which make a perfect match with the matt
finish of the aero components in the visible carbon front diffuser, rear
diffuser, rear wing including end plates, flicks, louvre, radiator grille, and side
skirts.
The limited Mercedes-AMG GT3
Edition 55 exterior is characterized by the painted Affalterbach crest on the
doors. Next to the AMG logo, the 55th-anniversary logo is placed on the rear
wing.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 - Interior
Inside the Mercedes-AMG GT3
Edition 55, everything is special. On the seat, there is embroidery that
includes the anniversary symbol and plaques inscription “EDITION 55 – 1 OF 5”.
This special inscription is also placed on the central console of the AMG GT3
Edition 55. The matt Anthracite metallic color is used for the interior with
the combination of high-quality visible carbon elements on the door sills, door
covers, central console, and the dashboard. The seat belts of the limited
Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 have silver accents – a nice reference to the
Silver Arrow.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT3
Edition 55 - Racing Cockpit
The racing aspect of the interior of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55
includes the latest generation Data Display Unit (DDU). The Bosch DDU 11 comes
with a high-resolution graphic display to show relevant information such as
speed, rpm, operating temperatures, lap times, gear and shift indication plus
additional information. When the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 is started there
is a nice appearance of the 55th-anniversary logo.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 - Special Features
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 comes with a tailor-made and specially
designed car cover. The partnership between Mercedes-AMG and IWC Schaffhausen
benefits the owners of the special AMG GT3 Edition 55 with a limited EDITION 55
box. Inside the box, there is a Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “AMG”
(Reference IW377903). On the back of this masterpiece watch is engraved the
chassis number of the corresponding Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55. The watch’s
case is made of grade 5 titanium (note:
Grade 5 titanium is an alloy that combines a mixture of titanium and other
chemical elements.) and it has a black textile strap. Moreover,
the high-quality timepiece will be handed in IWC Boutique near the buyer’s
residence.

BMW and Mercedes Head to Head in Celebrations
If BMW makes limited series production of the 2023 BMW M4 CSL for the 50th anniversary of
the BMW M in 1000 units (it's a requirement of motorsport racing), then Mercedes makes 5 units only of the Mercedes-AMG
GT3 Edition 55 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the AMG.
