2017 Ford GT 24 Hours of Le Mans
The new Ford GT will take a part in the full
2016 schedules of the FIA Endurance Championship and TUDOR United States
SportsCar Championship. The debut of the Ford GT will be in the Rolex 24 at
Daytona, Florida on January 30-31, 2016.

The road version of the Ford GT has a 3.5-liter EcoBoost
V6 engine. It will be mated to an automatic 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle.
The GT engine has an all-new direct dual fuel-injection setup which has to
improve engine response, plus a low-friction roller-finger-follower
valvetrain. The engine of the new Ford GT is mid-placed and this sports car
has rear-wheel drive.

The new Ford GT enters the club of Ford Focus RS, F-150
Raptor, Shelby GT350, and Shelby GT350R. The Ford Performance lineup will
grow up and the new GT is one of more than 12 new sports vehicles which
will come by 2020.

The two-seat passenger cell is made of carbon fiber.
Carbon fiber is one of the strongest materials for its mass. Using such
materials the new Ford GT has to reach one of the best power-to-weight
ratios in comparison to other production cars. Aluminum is another
lightweight material used for front and rear subframes. Using lightweight
materials, the acceleration, handling, braking, safety, efficiency should
be improved the sporty character of the new Ford GT.

The new Ford GT has an
active racing-style torsion bar and pushrod suspension. This means that
the ride height is adjustable. The tires are 20-inch Michelin Pilot
Super Sport Cup 2 (about $493/452 EUR per tire) designed specifically
for the Ford GT Multi-spoke wheels. The four wheels of the new GT have
carbon-ceramic brake discs. The production will begin in late
2016.
