A Green Light For The New BMW Z4
The
new BMW Z4 has a green light for serial production and now it has tests at the
test center in Miramas, in the south of France. The old Z4 is out of production
in 2016 and it’s time to see a new BMW’s roadster. I can’t stand to test the
new BMW Z4!

BMW describes the new BMW Z4 in this way: Long bonnet, short overhangs, low center of gravity and soft top. However, the new Z4 is heavily covered in order to hide the details of its design until the official launch.
Trials
at the Autodrome de Miramas are focusing on fine-tuning of all drive and
suspension systems – the basis for the sporty driving experience offered by the
new BMW Z4. The BMW Z4 M40i will be the most intensive form of the new
roadster. The new Z4 comes with:
·
a new, “extremely powerful” in-line
6-cylnder engine;
·
a lowered sports suspension
with electronically controlled dampers;
·
a newly developed front axle;
·
M light alloy wheels with mixed
tyres;
·
an M sports brake system;
·
an electronically controlled
lock in the rear axle differential;
All
of these features create the BMW M Performance model settings. The new BMW Z4
has to be a whole new benchmark for driving pleasure in the roadster segment.

Quotes:
"The vehicle concept of the new BMW Z4 is geared consistently towards agility and driving dynamics," explains Jos van As, Head of Application Suspension. "The high level of body stiffness and the very rigid suspension attachment provide the perfect basis for a set-up that guarantees the performance qualities of a genuine sports car in terms of steering precision as well as longitudinal and transverse acceleration."

The Miramas test center is the best place for detailed analysis and optimization of the new BMW Z4’s acceleration, steering and brake response. |
The
Miramas test center is chosen because it responds to all needs of the new BMW
Z4 to demonstrate its driving dynamics potential. Moreover, BMW has been using
this test center for more than 30 years to test its new models. The Miramas has
everything that’s need it for the final tests before the new Z4 hit the
production line: a long asphalt oval and a motorway ring road for high-speed
tests as well as slalom, serpentine and circular tracks and a number of
handling courses and circuits featuring highly diverse types of surface. All of
these tracks are used for detailed analysis and optimization of the new BMW Z4’s
acceleration, steering and brake response. BMW gives an example: “the final
form of the adaptive M suspension as it interacts with the rear axle
limited-slip differential is developed on a circuit that is also used for
testing purposes by BMW Motorsport.”
The
expectations are that the new BMW Z4 will offer tangible increase in sporty
flair. The goals of the new Z4 is also to offer an effective enhancement
in
terms of agile handling, spontaneity and precision when changing direction and
accelerating in dynamic style out of bends – without losing out in the comfort
disciplines.
