Toyota Expands Hybrid Car-Sharing Offer to Venice, Italy

YUKÕ is a Japanese word which means “Let’s go”. Toyota uses YUKÕ as a name of its car-sharing services which will be available in Venice, Italy. Toyota will use a fleet of 49 self-charging and plug-in hybrid electric models ranging from the Toyota Yaris Hybrid to the Prius Plug-in Hybrid. 

The Toyota Yaris Hybrid is a model of a total 49 fleet self-charging and plug-in hybrid electric cars which will be available for car-sharing service YUKÕ in Venice, Italy.

The YUKÕ service was initiated in Dublin (Ireland) and Forli (Italy) in 2016. When this service became available in Venice you will need an online registration which could be done in a few minutes. For now there is an app for PC, tablet and smartphone but soon a Smart Watch app will be added.

The YUKÕ has 2 service options which are station based service called “YUKÕ One” and “YUKÕ Way”. Using the “YUKÕ One” you can pick up a car and to return it at a station of your choice. The “YUKÕ Way” is a free floating service which gives you the opportunity, simply to leave the car in any parking space in the city center.  

There is another option which will combine both public and private transportation and easely to switch between them called “Venezia Unica” which is Venice’s official City Pass.

The Toyota Proace Verso is a “barrier-free” vehicle of Toyota’s car-sharing fleet which has been added to improve specific mobility needs.

Creating such services, Toyota began to transform itself not only as a car company but also into a mobility provider. Thus the clients could use a car but to it’s not necessary to have it. This idea had begun in 2011 Global Vision, “Toyota will lead the way to the future of mobility” developing new forms of transportation and pursuing new ways to connect technology with people.’

The “YUKÕ One” is Toyota's service with which you can pick up a car and to return it at a station of your choice. The Toyota Yaris Hybrid for a "YUKÕ One" service. 

The YUKÕ is a service which is completely environment friendly using Toyota’s self-charging and plug-in hybrid electric driving models. These cars help to tackle air quality in cities. According to a research of the Center for Automotive Research and Evolution (CARe) of the University Guglielmo Marconi in Rome in collaboration with Enea (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic) in Rome, the results shows that 73% of daily commute travels with a 4th generation Toyota Prius are with zero emissions. When the driving is purely in an urban congestion the results were as high as 79.4% of the time.
