The answer to these questions is simple and it’s called The G-Class Experience Center. That is the place where owners, customers, and fans are able to improve their driving skills and to see the world through the windshield of a G-Class. Yes, it’s not necessary to own a G-Class.

The new G-Class Experience Center is located on an abandon Nitter aerodrome around 15 km (9 miles) south of Graz, Austria. The location isn’t randomly chosen because Graz is the city where the G-Class has been developed and in production for more than 40 years now. Well, the Nitter aerodrome is no longer an abandoned aerodrome now it’s a home of the G-Class Experience Center – the G-Base.

The G-Class Experience center is placed on some 100,000 m2 (1,076,391 sq. ft.). At this place, there are 4 test modes that you can experience with a Mercedes G-Class on both natural and artificially created off-road section, the G-Rock. The Experience Center allows you even to drive the G-Class in off-road conditions as you can try different approach ramps, different surfaces, and gradients like driving on inclinations and through the water. The variety of ramps with gradients allows you to try approaching up to 100% - that’s called experience. Of course, you can push yourself to the limit on slalom courses and as well as extreme braking.

If a G-Class cannot conquer the Schöckl – it’s not a G-Class. The development of Mercedes G-Class goes through different phases and one of them is the Schöckl mountain. If the G-Class passes this challenge then it receives the badge “Schöckl proved”. Now, you can also experience what does  “Schöckl proved” means.
