Škoda Superb, GreenLine, Award
The new Škoda Superb GreenLine has
an engine 1.6 TDI which produces 118 hp (88kW) and it is connected to the
gearbox with 6-speed manual transmission with longer gear ratios. As the usual
Superb model it has start-stop system and brake energy recovery (recuperation)
as standard.
The impression is from fuel
consumption which is 3.7l/100km (63.57 mpg). The CO2 emissions from the engine are also reduced: only 95 g/km. From Škoda claim that if you filling
up 66
liters (17.44 US gal) diesel in the Superb GreenLine you could drive over 1780
km (1106 miles).
In order to reach such results for
the environment Škoda Superb GreenLine uses two exhaust gas treatment units: an
oxidation catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter. The Selective
Catalytic Reduction (SCR) turns the nitrogen oxides into water and nitrogen
(ingredient of air - 78%) using the reducing agent AdBlue (32.5% high-purity
urea and 67.5% deionized water). The diesel particulate filter eliminates 99.9%
of number of solids. Thus Škoda Supberb GreenLine engine does not only decrease
CO2 emissions but also saves fuel.
The new Škoda Superb GreenLine
uses tyres with low resistance mounted on 16-inch wheels. As extra could be
ordered and 17-inch wheels.
“The all-new, third-generation ŠKODA Superb is a saloon full of speed, class and passion. The appearance of the new Superb is powerful, confident and emotional. The wheelbase has increased by 80 mm, at the same time the front overhang has been shortened by 61 mm. This new architecture makes the vehicle both elegant and dynamic,” says ŠKODA Chief Designer Jozef Kabaň. “From the front to the rear, from the large wheels to the gently sloping roofline, the new model stands out with clear geometry, strikingly chiselled surfaces, sculptural shapes, purist precision and elegant lines.”
The new Škoda Superb has been
awarded ‘Best of Best’ in the ‘Exterior Volume Brand’ category of the
‘Automotive Brand Contest 2015’. This decision was made by the jury of the
German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung). Founded in 1953 the German Design
Council is one of the world's leading competence centers for communication and
knowledge transfer in the field of design.
“A great car, combining elegance and solidity, aesthetics and practicality, pride of ownership and reasonable maintenance costs while maintaining a high resale value,” explains a German Design Council jury member.
