Police
cars always have been interesting. Chevrolet presents the Tahoe for K-9 units.
This Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV) offers more space and advanced climate control
for sheriff’s dog.
The
dogs don’t have sweat glands and the only way to cool their bodies is to breath
deep. The heat is the biggest enemy for the dogs and many dogs die due to the heat
exhaustion. In order to create suitable environment Chevrolet removed the rear
seats for Tahoe K-9 model and adds more cooling vents. Of course, they are used
as heating vents through the winter.
“Heat exhaustion is one of the top killers of police dogs,” said Michael Werges, sergeant-at-arms, North American Police Dog Association.
Chevrolet Tahoe PPV is available with 2WD and automatic 4WD. The
engine is 5.3 EcoTec3 V8 connected to the 6-speed automatic transmission.
Chevrolet Tahoe PPV is also used by state, local municipalities,
the federal government, first response, tactical, HAZMAT and Border Patrol.
