If
you think that the conventional Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is too boring
for you there is AMG S63 Cabriolet. They have different hearts.
Mercedes-AMG
S63 Cabriolet has a 5.5L V8 biturbo engine with 585 hp (430 kW) and max torque
of 900 Nm (663.80 lb.-ft.). 4MATIC means all-wheel drive but the main torque is on the rear
wheels. From 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) you’ll arrive in 3.9 sec and there is a
high-performance composite brake to stop in time. When you reach a speed of 250
km/h (155 mph) … all is done. It’s electronically limited. The fuel consumption is
10.4l/100 km (22.62 MPG).
The
transmission is AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT. It’s a 7-speed automatic gearbox. It has
three modes ‘C’, ‘S’ and ‘M’.
The
sound of the engine depends on your emotional status. The exhaust system
automatically controls the exhaust flaps in both rear silencers. If you set the
transmission in Controlled Efficiency (‘C’) – mode, the engine will sounds more
balanced and quiet. But if you select one of the Sport (‘S’) or Manual (‘M’)
modes the exhaust flaps will be open earlier and more spontaneously. Then you
will hear the true sound of the AMG heart.
The
world automobile market could be separated on two types. The first type is the
part of the world which used right-hand drive and the second one for these who
used left-hand drive. The Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet has two versions for each
market.
The
rear-wheel drive variant of the S63 Cabriolet will be available on the
right-hand drive market. The AMG 4MATIC, all-wheel drive, is for the left-hand
drive market. 4MATIC distributes 33% on the front wheels and 67% to the rear
wheels. This separation is very strange.
The
AIRMATIC air suspension is also available for Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet as
well as the conventional Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet. The S63 has full-support
air suspension with adaptive damping system ADS PLUS. It could be select
between ‘Sport’ or ‘Comfort’ modes via a button.
If
the road is in bad condition the AIRMATIC could raise the clearance with 30 mm.
When you drive in ‘Sport’ mode the chassis will be lowered. In ‘Controlled
Efficiency’ mode the Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet also will be lowered over 120
km/h.
The world premiere of the Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet is at the Frankfurt International Motor Show. The sales starts in December but the market launch will begin in the spring of 2016.
