What offers the Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet?

The new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet is the first luxurious four-seater with openable soft top from Stuttgart’s company since 1971. The world premiere of the new S-Class Cabriolet will be at the International Motor Show on September 15, 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The engine is a 4.7L V8 produces 455 hp (335 kW) and 700 Nm (516.29 lb.-ft.) from 1,800 rpm. The gearbox is 9-speed automatic – 9G TRONIC – it’s innovative one. The fuel consumption is 8.5l/100km (27.67 MPG) using premium-grade petrol. The CO2 emissions are 199 g/km.

The main function of the new convertible model in S-Class range is folding the soft-top. It takes 20 seconds while you driving up to 60 km/h (37 mph).

The AIRCAP is an automatic wind protection system. It works via a button and has to reduce the turbulence in the interior. The AIRCAP has wind deflector with a net, set into the roof frame. It could be extended with 7 cm (2.76 in). Another feature of AIRCAP is also extendable gadget behind the rear seats. It has stainless steel trim. All of these cool stuffs reduced the noise level. On the S-Class Cabriolet the wind deflector is finished in the body color.

Do you think that the winter is not the right season to drive a cabriolet? Probably you are right. But here is the AIRSCARF. Warmed air circulates around the head and neck areas of the occupants from the head restraints.

The AIRCAP and the AIRSCARF are optional extras for Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet.

The S-Class Cabriolet has standard-fit pyrotechnic installation for roll-over protection system. If you would flip through the roof with Mercedes Benz S-Class Cabriolet the roll bars will move into position by a gas generator. The roll bars are placed behind the rear-seats headrest.

To produce the luggage compartment bulkhead from Mercedes-Benz used aluminum and magnesium. The rear floor of the S-Class Cabriolet is also made of aluminum in order to equalize the body weight to the Mercedes S-Class Coupé.

Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet has AIRMATIC system as standard. You could choose between sport or comfort modes. The AIRMATIC system is semi-activated air suspension with variable damping control. Thus it gives to the car accurate behavior according to the road conditions and your driving style.

Dozen systems will protect you in the new S-Class Cabriolet of Mercedes. The intelligent Drive systems include PRE-SAFE® Brake with pedestrian detection; DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop&Go pilot, Brake Assist BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assists, Active Line Keeping Assist, Adaptive High beam Assist Plus and Night View Assist.

The PRE-SAFE® PLUS is upgraded version of the PRE-SAFE occupant protection system. It can recognize approaching collusion and will warn the following traffic as flashing the rear hazard lights at a high frequency. If the collusion is unavoidable the PRE-SAFE® PLUS system will lock the brakes. Thus the risk of whiplash injury is minimizes.  The Brake Assist is active to prevent a collision under 7 km/h. COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS will activate autonomously breaks up to and more than 100 km/h. This is very helpful function in case that the driver, somehow, losing concentration.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet has dimensions: length/width/height 5027/1899/1417 mm (197.91/74.76/55.79 in). About 60% of the body shell components of the S-Class Cabriolet are similar to the Mercedes S-Class Coupé.
