Actually, it doesn’t looks so
different than the previous model for me.
And the dimensions are the same: 4.39 m (172.8 in) long; 1.83 m (72 in)
wide; 1.59 m (62.6 in) high and 2.60 m (102.4 in) wheel-base. The Audi Q3 has
more distinguished lines, singleframe front grille.
The cargo capacity of the new Audi Q3
is 460 liters and could be increased up to 1,365 liters by folding down the
split rear seat backs.
The 2015 Audi Q3 has same features as
like the luxurious models with LED interior lighting package and
power-adjustable front seats. The power tailgate is another power-gadget.
The secondary collision brake assist
is standard for the new Audi Q3. As additional equipment Audi offers side
assist which is a yellow LED indicator integrated into the outside mirror
housing. This yellow LED will light up and thus informs the driver if there is
a vehicle in the blind spot. This system works above 30 km/h (18.6 mph).
The Q3 model has active line assist
which is activated about 65 km/h (40.4 mph). It works with video cameras which
detect the line markings. This system makes fine correction to the
steering-wheel if the driver is going to leave the line without indicating it.
I want to mention one more interesting
gadget which is available in the new Audi Q3. It has camera-based traffic sign
recognition system which indicates speed limit and many supplemental signs. The
signs which the camera detects are displayed on the Driver Information System
(DIS), placed in the instrumental cluster between the rpm – and speed- meters.
The front suspension of the Audi Q3
has McPherson struts with lower aluminum wishbones, steel swivel bearing,
aluminum subframe, tubular anti-roll bar and steering roll radius.
For the back side, there are four-link
rear suspension with separate spring/shock absorber arrangement, sub frame,
aluminum wheel carries and tubular anti-roll bar.
Here are the engines which are
available for the Audi Q3.
The first engine is 1.4 TFSI COD ultra
which uses petrol fuel. The power of the engine is 150 hp (110 kW) in range
5000-6000 rpm. The maximum torque is 250 Nm (184.4 lb-ft) @ 1500 – 3500 rpm.
In details about the 1.4 TFSI, it has
4-cylnder inline spark-ignition engine with gasoline injection. It also has
exhaust turbocharger. The fuel goes into the cylinder by fully electronic
direct injection with drive-by-wire
throttle control.
The Audi Q3 with this engine has
front-wheel drive with electronic stabilization control (ESC). The engine is
connected with 6-speed manual transmission via hydraulically operated single
plate dry clutch.
The Audi Q3 could be equipped with
other 4-cylinder 1.4 TFSI petrol engine with the same power and torque. The
difference is the 6-speed automatic transmission called ‘S-tronic’. There are
two electro-hydraulically controlled multi-plate clutches in an oil bath.
The 2.0 TFSI petrol engine has inline
4-cylinders. The engine uses gasoline direct injection and exhaust
turbocharger. The Audi Q3 with this 2.0 TFSI engine is equipped with electro
hydraulically controlled multi-plate dual-clutch in an oil bath. The
transmission is 7-speed automatic one called S tronic. The power of this engine
is 180 hp @ 4000-6200 rpm and maximum torque 320 Nm (236 lb-ft.) @ 1400-3900
rpm.
The most powerful petrol engine for
the Audi Q3 is also 2.0 TFSI 4-cylinder petrol engine with gasoline direct
injection plus exhaust turbocharger. The power which the engine delivers to his
owner is 220 hp @ 4500-6200 rpm. The torque is 350 Nm (258.1 lb-ft.) @
1500-4400 rpm. The transmission is 7-speed S tronic as like the previous engine
with the same clutch system.
If somebody wants more power from the
Audi Q3 there is RS version. The Audi RS Q3 comes with 2.5 TFSI inline
5-cylinder petrol engine with gasoline direct injection; exhaust turbocharger
with intercooler (max. boost pressure is 2.2 bar); 4 valves per cylinder and
double overhead camshafts (DOHC).
The power of the Audi RS Q3 with this
2.5 TFSI engine is 340 hp @ 5300-6700 rpm and maximum torque is 450 Nm (331.9
lb-ft.) @ 1600-5300 rpm.
The torque of this 2.5 TFSI engine for
RS Q3 is more than the most powerful 2.0 TDI diesel engine for Audi Q3 which
has 380 Nm (280.3 lb-ft.) @ 1800-3250 rpm. In general, the main difference
between the petrol and the diesel engines is that the diesel engine has more
torque. Even that the displacement of the two engines isn't equal, the
difference isn't small.
The Audi RS Q3 has Quattro –
all-wheel-drive with electronically controlled multi-plate clutch and
electronic differential lock (EDL). The transmission is direct-shift 7-speed S
tronic.
The “smallest”, I mean the diesel
engine with less power for the Audi Q3 is 2.0 TDI. It has inline 4-cylnder
diesel engine with VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) turbocharger, TDI direct
injection.
The common rail solenoid valve
injection system works at 2,000 bars. The fuel goes into the cylinders via
direct injection and eight-hold nozzles. The engine has VTG turbocharger with
intercooler, spiral and tangential intake ports, NT-EGR regulation.
The exhaust system has oxidizing
catalytic converter, water-cooled exhaust gas re-circulation, a coated
maintenance-free diesel particulate filter/ SCR exhaust emission control.
The power of this 2.0 TDI engine is
120 hp @ 3250 – 4500 rpm. The torque is 290 Nm (213.9 lb-ft.) in range 1500 –
2750 rpm.
The next diesel version for the Audi
Q3 is 2.0 TDI, called ‘clean diesel’ engine. It has 150 hp @ 3500 – 4000 rpm
and torque 340 Nm (250.8 lb-ft.) @ 1750 – 2800 rpm. This engine uses the same
technologies which uses the previous one.
This engine is engaged to 6-speed
manual transmission with hydraulically actuated single-plate dry clutch. The
drive type is front-wheel drive with electronic stabilization control (ESC).
This engine is available and with Quattro all-wheel-drive.
There are one more engine with the
same power 150 hp @ 3500 – 4000 rpm and torque 340 Nm (250.8 lb-ft.) @ 1750 –
2800 rpm. The difference is that this 2.0 diesel engine has low temperature EGR
control.
The EGR means Exhaust Gas Re-circulation. It works in order to reduce the NOx which is the result of
internal combustion engine working. A part of exhaust gas is returned back into
the cylinders via the EGR valve.
There is an engine 2.0 TDI clean
diesel with Quattro – all wheel drive. It produces 184 hp @ 3500 – 4000 rpm and
torque 380 Nm (280.3 lb-ft.) @ 1800-3250 rpm. This engine works together with
6-speed manual transmission. There is hydraulically actuated single-plate dry
clutch. For this engine Audi offers and 7-Speed S tronic dual clutch
transmission with elector-hydraulic control. The dual-clutch is multi-plate in
an oil bath.
This is the full list of engines which
are available for the 2015 Audi Q3 and RS Q3 based for the German market. Some
of the engines may not be available in all markets or there are some
differences.
Note: This article is a
part of the series about the 2015 Grand Auto Show which was held in Varna,
Bulgaria. This expo shows the new and current models of automobiles and
motorcycles. Almost all vehicles come with serious price discounts. I have been
published galleries about the Grand Auto Show since 2013 but this time I would
like and to share more information about every model in alphabet order. The
pictures are also included. Dro from Dro4Cars.
