The
VW BUDD-e van is based on Modular Electronic Drive Kit (MEB). VW wants to set
the next step towards the mobility of the feature with the BUDD-e electrical
van. The BUDD-e has four-wheel-drive powered by front and rear electrical motors. The
front electric motor produces 100 kW (200 Nm/147.5 lb-ft.) while the rear motor
produces 125 kW (290 Nm/213.9 lb-ft.). The total power which the VW BUDD-e has
is 225 kW (302 hp/ 490 Nm/361.4 lb-ft.).

The
capacity of the batteries is 92.4 kWh which enables a range of 233 miles (374
km) estimated real-world driving range (EPA) for USA. Based on New European
Driving Cycle (NEDC) the range which the VW BUDD-e could pass is 533 km (332
miles). The VW BUDD-e‘s batteries are placed under the floor. They could be
charged up to 80 percent capacity for about 30 minutes. The top speed of the VW
BUDD-e is 180 km/h (112 mph). From 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) the acceleration is
6.9 seconds.
The
BUDD-e’s dimensions are 4597 mm (181 in) long, 1940 mm (76.4 in) wide and 1835
mm (72.2 in) high. The length of the wheel base is 3151 (124.1 in). The
overhangs are very short 694 mm (27.3 in) at the front and 752 mm (29.6 in) at
the back. The newly develop rear steering system gives result in a very tight turning
circle. It’s just 11.5 m (37.7 in). Thus the dynamic response is also improved.
With this size the VW BUDD-e takes a position between Volkswagen’s Touran and
Multivan T6.
Using
the new VW BUDD-e the owners could use variety of gadgets which are based on
the infotainment system. With the VW BUDD-e the owners will be able to access
their homes and workspace from the car. They could control the air conditioning
system, switching on/off the lights or to take a look online to see if the kids
are home yet, for instance.

Another
interesting feature is the gesture control. This technology is already used by
some automotive producers but for the Volkswagen BUDD-e is different. With a gesture
you can open the garage door. It’s sound very impressive.
