Kia Motors Corporation has total 226,842 units sold in December 2017

Last week Volkswagen announced resume for sales in 2017 comparing them with the results from 2016. Now, it is Kia’s time.

Kia Motors Corporation has total 226,842 units sold in December 2017.

Today, Kia announced the resume of sales for the last December and for the whole 2017. The monthly sales are unaudited and on preliminary basis. The Sales in Korea are based on the retail sales while overseas sales (global sales excluding Korea) are based on wholesale.

Kia Motors Corporation has total 226,842 units sold in December 2017. This result is for global sales and includes passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles.

The sales of the Kia Picanto (a.k.a. Kia Morning in Korea) for December 2017 are 46,502 units sold in Korea. It is a decrease with 6.2% versus the same period in 2016.

Kia marks slower sales in China and that’s why overseas sales has 19.6% decline. The total overseas sales are 180,340 units in December 2017.

The Kia Sportage is the best-selling model overseas of Kia Motors Corporation with total 425,558 units sold for 2017. 

Kia Motors Corporation posted global sales of 2,746,188 units for the all 2017. It’s 7.8% decreasing compared with 2016. The sales in Korea declined 2.5% to 521,550 units and overseas sales retreated to 9% to 2,224,638 units.

The Kia Rio / Kia Pride in Korea is second best sold model with 379,184 units for 2017.

By the way in 2013 I was in Korea and I saw that mostly of the cars are Hyundai. I feel the Kia as a brand which is more for export markets than for its home market.

This Kia's model has several different names as Kia Cerato, Kia Forte, Kia K3 and a few other. However, Kia Cerato / Forte / K3 takes the third position in the best-selling Kia models with 364,054 units sold for 2017.

However, the Kia Sportage a compact SUV is company’s best-selling model on overseas markets in 2017 with 425,558 units sold. On the second place is the Kia Rio (a.k.a. Kia Pride in Korea) with 379,184 units sold. And on the third position in the best-selling Kia models for 2017 is the Kia K3 a compact sedan which is known as Kia Forte for some markets and Kia Cerato for others with 364,054 units sold.
