If Reliant Robin was a Motorcycle

Time to time the cars are strange and difficult to understand, especially their design. Back in the years around 1973 when the British carmaker Reliant produces some cars like the Reliant Robin.  I really can’t understand how it’s possible such a car to be created. It’s also interesting how it’s described:

Reliant Robin – city car; 21/2-door; 3-wheel saloon with a large opening rear window.

Maybe back then that car was something very different but I don’t think so, because of the Italian Piaggio which also had produced a 3-wheeler called Piaggio Ape. The difference is that the Reliant Robin pretended to be a car and the Piaggio Ape is a van very suitable for work as a delivery van. However, both models are well-covered motorcycles, and because it’s difficult to merge something different like a car and a motorcycle that’s why the Reliant Robin looks very strange, at least for me.

Otherwise, if you have read a text like:

This is the new 748 cc Reliant Robin bike….

And here would be another question what kind of a bike it would be and the best part is that it could be anything - adding a letter after the name and different covers. Here are some examples of names if Reliant Robin was a motorcycle: Reliant Robin N – naked; Reliant Robin S – Sport; Reliant Robin T – touring; Reliant Robin TS – Touring Sport; Reliant Robin R - Racing and so on.

Moreover of the engine specification and even the Robin model name sounds good for a bike.

That small car called Reliant Robin is offered with two petrol engines 748 cc and 850 cc, both 4-cylinder. The power is in a range of 32 to 39 hp. The fuel tank volume is 27 liters.

The Reliant Robin sounds good for a motorcycle and in 1973 there could be a competitor of the Kawasaki Z750 (also called Kawasaki Z2; Kawasaki H2 Mach IV) and also of the Triumph Tiger 750. If the Reliant Robin was a bike maybe it could be still around.
